We were fascinated by the photos produced by an amateur photographer of humpbacks in California waters.  Despite fines being in place to prevent people getting too close, viewers can be seen just metres away from the huge mammals.   The photos are incredible.  We do hope the photographer had a good insurance policy; one flick of a tail and the equipment could have ended up on the sea bed!
