In Focus supports campaign to protect photographers from S44
We’re more than happy to support this campaign by a brilliant wildlife photographer to highlight an issue that affects professional and amateur photographers in the UK.
S44 of the Terrorism Act which is used by police forces across the UK is, quite needlessly, harassing photographers all too often.
The current application of S44 has actually already been ruled illegal by the European Court of Human rights but the Labour Government appealed it, with the Coalition seemingly intent on doing the same.
Darren Hector in his blog makes a very good argument for abandoning the appeal – and we agree. He’s written to the Home Secretary and you can see his letter on the excellent PhotoLegal site.
