Facebook photography course – a sign of the times?

Well, new and slightly wacky courses are introduced at colleges and universities all the time, but we never thought we’d see the day a Facebook course was launched.

A North Wales college has announced that it is using Facebook to deliver a digital photography course.

As a professional photographer, would you have felt satisfied learning the ropes via Facebook?

Apparently the course gives an introduction to techniques and composition rules.  Students can then share their photography work online.

People doing the ten week course have sung its praises and love the flexibility if offers and the interaction they have – online interaction of course.  I can’t help thinking that students will miss out from being able to speak directly with fellow students and talk through ideas face to face.  Likewise, not meeting the course tutors or being able discuss or see physically what they are discussing is surely a disadvantage.  What do you think?
